Octopus Australia mission is to accelerate the transition to a future powered by renewable energy. As a specialist renewables manager, we believe there is a huge opportunity to unblock investment in renewables by building a bespoke portfolio of multi – technology renewables assets in Australia.

We have invested in the 333 MWDC Darlington Point Solar Farm – one of the largest so far connected to the grid in Australia – and the 180MW Dulacca Wind Farm. We also have a strong national pipeline of projects across solar, wind, battery storage and hydrogen opportunities. 

Our local team has extended its on the ground presence, with 30 dedicated energy professionals across a broad range of expertise including funds management, investment, development, engineering, energy markets, and asset management.

We have a team of 30 across Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland.

Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a 3-6 year PQE solicitor to support the business through a period of exciting growth.  The role is part-time or full-time.

Ideally the successful applicant will have energy projects experience in the Australian market.  However, we value diversity and will consider talented candidates from other walks of life.

You will be joining a growing legal team responsible for providing legal advice to all aspects of the business.  This will, in conjunction with support from external counsel, include providing legal, commercial, transactional and regulatory advice across the full life-cycle of renewable energy projects from development, construction, operations, project finance and M&A, to ensure the successful delivery of our renewable energy projects.  

This role will report into our General Counsel and work closely with our Senior Legal Counsel

Qualifications

Ideally you will have 3-6 years’ PQE experience gained within a reputable law firm working on grid-scale renewable energy projects (development, construction, finance and/or M&A experience).  However, we recognise that not everyone fits this mould and will consider candidate with transferable experience who have a keen interest in building a career in the renewable energy sector.    We value diversity of thought and experience, so if you are interested in renewable energy and eager to learn and grow with the team in a fast-paced environment then we would love to hear from you
