Humans of Business – Episode 4. Ade Hassan

21 May 2019

Frustrated by the lack of diversity she found within the lingerie and hosiery industry, she set out to reclaim the definition of ‘nude’, by making sure it applied to women of colour. Ade founded her lingerie and hosiery company Nubian Skin in 2015, and was crowned ‘Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year’ just one year later. Ade was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2017.

In the latest Humans of Business interview, Ade talks candidly to Charlotte Pearce about how her business values were strongly influenced by the risk-taking and hard work of her parents, and why she believes that her success is built on her determination and her willingness to ask for help. Ade’s story is a real inspiration for any young entrepreneur who wants to make a difference.

In Ade’s own words: “being a successful entrepreneur means having the grit to just carry on, even when things aren’t going exactly as you planned”.
