Everyone at Octopus had the chance to vote on which charity they wanted to support for the next three years. We’re delighted to announce that Thames21 were chosen to be our new environmental charity partner!
What do Thames21 do?
Thames21 are tackling the climate emergency by restoring the health of urban rivers. Their work focuses on transforming landscapes, reducing flood risk, and creating habitats for wildlife. They put rivers at the heart of communities and empower people to take action. In doing so, they also improve community wellbeing, inclusion, and social cohesion.
Why are we excited to work with Thames21?
We want to use our funding, skills and time to supercharge Thames21’s impact on the environment, supporting them as they continue to restore urban river habitats and grow their volunteer base.
Outdoor public spaces were a lifeline for many during the pandemic. There is also heaps of research that shows the link between nature and well-being. That’s why we’re excited to harness the enthusiasm of Octopus people to improve London’s landscapes and rivers.
Over the next three years, we’ll be supporting practical community projects, as well as getting hands-on ourselves. We want to work with Thames21 to build a more sustainable planet and boost climate resilience. As our name suggests, we feel quite at home in the water!
