Job Description

About the Role

The successful candidate will perform the role of Assistant Management Accountant. This role will have responsibility over ensuring effective support and business partnering, whilst having efficient accounting and financial reporting skills. The right individual will have excellent time and stakeholder management abilities, pay great attention to detail and be able to apply these skills in a dynamic working environment. This role reports into The Head of Financial Control and Reporting Team.  

Providing business support to Octopus’s P2P lending platform Octopus Choice and Octopus Cash products, including the oversight of the reconciliation of their property loan book between the accounting system and various other systems used by the Choice Operations team.

Business partnering: work with Finance Business Partners and budget holders across the Octopus group; presenting their performance and monthly financial results against budget, helping them to understand the budget impact of spend decisions and assisting in forecasting their Latest Expected Outcome for the financial year.  

Recharges: actively maintain the recoverable expenses accounts for recharging of costs both across the Octopus Group and directly to our Funds. Preparing monthly reports for circulation to finance teams highlighting the costs sitting on the recharges account and working with the teams to clear these down on a regular basis.

FCA regulatory reporting: preparation of underlying data for the Octopus Investments, Octopus AIF Management Limited and Octopus Co Lend Limited returns to the FCA.

Audit: deliver supporting schedules, reconciliations and audit packs to the external auditors, while co-ordinating their queries and managing their deadlines.

Ad hoc requests: as directed by manager including maintenance, interpretation and reporting of timely financial data, making suggestions for regular financial reporting/KPIs etc.


  • Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to challenge and influence decision-making
  • Advanced excel skills
