About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our team. Due to the size of our business and the team and the fast-paced working environment in which we operate you will have the ability to work with the latest technology in a role that offers lots of variety and exposure to multiple aspects of DevOps. 

The team places a strong emphasis on continual learning and upskilling so you will benefit from having lots of support in your development and gaining certifications.  

The team:  

Part of a wider, agile Technology function (Octopus Labs), the DevOps team is a hands-on and passionate group of 3 highly dedicated, skilled engineers who support a wider Engineering function of 70 people based on and offshore.  

Octopus Labs use the latest technology to build state of the art systems to support our business processes. Our team is constantly looking for new technologies, and people at all levels of the function are encouraged and expected to contribute with ideas on how we can improve our products. What will you be doing?  

  • Collaborating with development teams to streamline and automate software delivery processes 

  • Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps 

  • Provision and management of cloud infrastructure using Terraform 

  • Configuring and managing Azure services (e.g., App Services, Virtual Machines, Databases) 

  • Monitoring and optimising application performance in the Azure cloud environment 

  • Participating in the design and implementation of infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions 

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of DevOps practices and tooling 

Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll have:  

✅ Experience in a DevOps or similar role, with solid experience in Azure DevOps (formerly VSTS) or similar CI/CD tools, Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Azure cloud services (e.g., Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure DevOps) 

✅ Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Kafka and Service Bus messaging systems and monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Splunk, or ELK stack) 

✅ An understanding of containerisation concepts (Docker, container orchestration) 

✅ Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python 

✅ Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef) 

✅ Knowledge of security best practices 

✅ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
