About the Role

Job Purpose

Working in an agile environment, this role offers great autonomy and you have the opportunity to define and configure all DevOps activity in your team.

With an exciting range of business challenges to work on, this is a great role for an independent thinker, who's looking for both strategic and operational input across a range of products. Furthermore, you'll be part of a five-person DevOps chapter at Octopus, and work effectively with these colleagues to grow the success and impact of this chapter.

What you'll be doing

  • Overall responsibility for DevOps activities in your development team
  • The creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines
  • Using Terraform to create infrastructure as code
  • Implementing appropriate levels of monitoring for the multiple products/systems in your team
  • Creating accurate technical documentation to support your work
  • Integrating and maintaining security tooling as part of the CI/CD pipeline (DAST & SAST)
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in production and test environments
  • Implementing code quality tooling
  • Configuring cloud native resources in Microsoft Azure
  • Working with the Infrastructure and SecOps teams to make sure work is aligned across the IT function
  • Configuring branching policies in Azure DevOps

Qualifications

What you'll bring

  • Being an advocate for best practice in software engineering
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of .Net and scripting languages
  • Knowledge of Agile working practices and previous experience of working with SCRUM
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks
  • Knowledge of architectural design concepts, particularly microservices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the company
  • A genuine interest in technology, and always looking for new tools to enhance our delivery process
  • Experience of working with the Infosec, Compliance, and SecOps functions to ensure the security of our data
  • Great stakeholder management skills
  • You will have a strategic mindset and will be able to communicate how activities map to strategic goals
