About the Role

What’s in it for you? 
This role is key to the future success of our institutional team, dealing with multiple asset classes and new products pipeline, you’ll be responsible for raising capital from institutional investors in the UK. We are looking for someone to bring their network and experience raising capital from all investors and consultants as well as being responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching the UK sales team. The relationships you’ll develop will support Octopus’ fundraising objectives for our fast-growing range of private market alternatives funds.  You’ll work collaboratively with the other global sales directors and investment team leads to define and implement our sales strategy for existing and new products.

The team 

The Global Institutional Distribution team sits centrally within Octopus Investments and works across each of the Octopus institutional investment teams: Ventures, Real Estate, and Sustainable Infrastructure.  We currently have a diverse team of 20 people across sales, marketing, and investor relations.  The team also works in partnership with Octopus Energy Generation to identify fundraising opportunities for renewables and energy transition strategies. The team is responsible for both building new and supporting existing institutional client relationships. Institutional capital will help to support the Octopus mission to invest in the people, the ideas and the industries that will change the world. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Institutional Sales.  We currently have £5.5bn in Insti FUM. 

What you'll do:

  • Support the leadership team to create and execute the UK institutional sales strategy
  • Identify, initiate, develop and manage relationships with institutional investors, raising an annually targeted volume of capital to support Octopus’ mission to deploy £50bn by 2030 into the people, ideas and industries that can change the world
  • Working collaboratively with our Institutional Marketing team, devise and execute an events and communications strategy to engage, educate and excite potential investors
  • Work with our Investor Relations Director to assist investors with ad hoc requests and queries to help us manage these relationships on an ongoing basis
  • Engage with Corporate Development teams to capture market feedback to inform future fund development
  • Liaise closely with the Octopus investment teams to gain detailed knowledge of the investment strategies you’ll be promoting, partnering all the way through the sales process

Qualifications

✅ Proven experience within private markets fund distribution with a demonstrable track record of capital raising from UK institutional investors and with Investment Consultants

✅ Collaboration – the ability to work as a team to execute the UK sales strategy is critical

✅ Passionate about purpose, sustainability and impact investing

✅ Strong technical ability and commercially-minded, with deep knowledge of various products across private markets
