Job Description

About the Role

What’s in it for you?

As a fast-paced, growing, entrepreneurial group of businesses, working in audit at Octopus offers the opportunity to learn lots of new skills and fast-track your development through being involved in business wide projects that could include new products, new systems, and new business areas.

Working in collaboration with the founder and senior leadership you will play an integral role in the strategic growth of the organisation and supporting the 1st and 2nd line in a partnership-based approach.

The team:

The internal audit team at Octopus is an independent function working across Octopus Capital (Octopus Investments, Seccl, Octopus Money and Aurora) in providing assurance to the audit & risk committee on regulatory requirements, financial reporting and operational needs.

Collaborating with stakeholders across the business, including the founder, internal audit at Octopus takes a risk-based approach that supports the commercial aims of our entrepreneurial business with a focus on business partnering and advisory rather than a tick-box-based approach to audit.

What will you be doing?

  • As an Internal Audit Manager you will oversee the execution of internal audit reviews with support from the Head of Internal Audit. This covers a wide range of tasks that include determining the scope of reviews, reviewing the suitability and effectiveness of internal controls, conducting audit testing, quantifying risk and making recommendations to address these.

  • You will assist with developing the annual risk-based internal audit plan, as well as developing and maintaining internal audit policy and procedure documents.

  • Working with stakeholders across the business you will play a key part in increasing the visibility and value of internal audit via reporting, business partnering and maintaining the internal audit issue tracker to ensure recommendations are being implemented.

  • You will take a proactive approach to identifying emerging industry and regulatory issues and assessing their implications.

Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll have:

✅ A recognised accountancy or internal audit professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIIA).

✅ Knowledge of technical auditing concepts, business processes and internal control systems.

✅ Exposure to the financial services sector and an understanding of core regulatory requirements.

✅ A passion for delivering an excellent customer experience to stakeholders of all levels, internally and externally.

✅ Experience in presenting and discussing information in a logical, professional and objective manner.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. What’s the worst that can happen?

This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.
