In this role, you will manage and monitor existing loans and build lasting relationships with our customers to facilitate follow-on loans. You’ll bring a solid understanding of development finance; from a credit risk and /or portfolio management background.
The team
The Development Portfolio team consists of four Portfolio Managers reporting to a Head of Development Portfolio. You’ll be part of a wider Development lending team of 13 people that includes origination and credit teams.
What will you be doing?
- Monitor and manage several loans within the development portfolio accurately and diligently by applying specialist knowledge of facility status, construction processes, legal requirements and risk. Contribute to the structuring, underwriting and executing of new development facilities and drive repeat business.
- Manage the relationship with all key stakeholders (including travelling to development sites) to ensure a smooth transaction process, timely drawdowns as well as quick and effective problem-solving.
- Manage and analyse all the diligence streams for a transaction, including valuation reports, QS reports, legal documents and market environment.
- Contribute to the success of the team through: increasing the size of the loan book, designing and implementing new loan products and internal processes.
Qualifications
Ideally, you’ll have
✅ A good understanding of development finance and the UK market, as well as experience executing development loans.
✅ Highly numerate with a good understanding of development cash flows, construction processes and methods of construction.
✅ Strong credit and risk analysis, with the ability to identify and mitigate early warning signals.
✅ Due Diligence management and analysis (Legal, Valuation and QS reports).
✅ Any experience handling and managing non-performing development sites would be nice to have.
✅ Financial modelling experience would also be beneficial but not essential.
