Job Description

About the Role

As an investment manager, Octopus Investments operates in both retail and institutional markets, across a wide range of asset classes. We’re looking for a compliance advisory specialist to join the compliance team at Octopus Investments, which supports a range of investment teams and their supporting functions, as well as Octopus’ Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM).

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate compliance advice to support the business’ growth objectives and protect our existing business
  • Help to develop and maintain all necessary compliance policies and procedures
  • Actively contribute to compliance advisory work of the team which covers all investment teams (such as venture capital, infrastructure, and real estate) and their supporting functions (back office operations, people/HR, finance, marketing etc).
  • Contribute to monitoring regulatory developments and assist the business in implementation of regulatory changes as required
  • Proactively build and maintain your knowledge of regulatory requirements as applicable to Octopus Investments
  • Share your knowledge and provide constructive feedback on the way we do things currently, helping the business and the compliance team to manage Octopus’ compliance risk


  • 2-5 yrs Investment Management Advisory Compliance Experience
  • A keen interest in FCA regulatory developments, proactive in keeping knowledge up to date
  • Good knowledge of at least two of the following:
  • Investment management services (e.g. discretionary managed portfolios, funds, UCITS etc)
  • MIFID, including all COBS requirements
  • Product Governance Requirements
  • Financial Promotions requirements
  • Compliance support to quoted equity investment managers
