Octopus Giving
Our charitable foundation dedicated to helping charities who are making the world a better place.
Some of society’s problems are best solved by partnering with amazing charities. That’s where Octopus Giving comes in.
Octopus Giving was set up in 2014 to help charities make the world a better place. As well as donating money (we’ve donated £3.2 million since we set up the foundation) and offering advice to our charity partners we also actively encourage our people to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
We do this for two reasons. First, we know we have valuable skills to share. Secondly, we know that Octopus people get a huge amount out of the time they give. Having the chance to make a positive impact on the planet and the people around them is one of the things that sets us apart from other companies.
Meet our new charity partners
Overlooked communities partner: Refettorio Felix
Refettorio Felix believe that everyone is entitled to a nutritious, delicious, restaurant quality meal eaten in company. Each weekday they cater for a guest community of homeless, older and socially isolated guests; – creating lunch from donated surplus, and providing wraparound support spanning multiple needs – health, housing, mental health, practical support and social activities.
We are working with Refettorio Felix to support them support their community in practical ways and to feel empowered through their unique service provision.
Environmental partner: Fields in Trust
Fields in Trust is the only charity in the UK working to legally protect parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and green spaces for good. For almost 100 years they have helped protect close to 3,000 spaces – covering an area larger than the size of Liverpool – right across the UK.
We are working with Fields in Trust to harness the power of parks and green spaces for a happier, healthier, and greener future for everyone.

What we’ve done
We’re proud of the time our colleagues contribute to helping our charities. We give back in a number of financial ways too, including through grants, matching funds raised by our employees and additional £20 donations to the charities for every hour an Octopus person volunteers with them.
