Octopus Giving has been working closely with four charity partners, Choir with No Name, FoodCycle, MyBnk and Downright Excellent, since 2017. Over the years, we’ve supported these charities with volunteering, funding and expertise.
We’ve had such a great time working with these four charities, with hundreds of Octopus people volunteering at events, cooking, singing, bucket-shaking, fundraising and helping with IT, marketing and finance. And while we’ll still be supporting them as legacy partners, we’re sad to say we must wish our four charities a fond farewell as partners.
Before we do, it’s time to look back over the past three years with FoodCycle. Watch the full video to hear all about our partnership, including how FoodCycle have been able to hire key members of staff and upgrade their systems, allowing them to feed more people.
FoodCycle feeds vulnerable people by serving tasty lunches and dinners across the UK. Many FoodCycle guests can’t afford to feed themselves or often eat alone without company. The charity fights social isolation by bringing people together to enjoy a meal, using surplus food that would otherwise have been thrown away.
Over the last three years, we’ve donated almost £150,000 in unrestricted funds to FoodCycle. This has allowed the charity to invest in their volunteer management system, looking after all 4,000 FoodCycle volunteers around the country. They’ve also been able to add more people to the team, crucially growing FoodCycle’s reach with a new coordinator in the South West.
If you missed it, you can watch Choir with No Name looking back on our partnership too. And keep an eye out for videos from our other two charity partners in the next few days.
