Entrepreneur Awards supported by Octopus, Springboard
Our new Entrepreneur Awards are celebrating the fantastic entrepreneurs across the UK who have thrived during the pandemic and made the most of lockdown, by starting or growing their business, innovating to survive the challenges, or supporting their staff and local community.
The pandemic has brought out the very best from our world-leading entrepreneurs in the most challenging conditions. As we’ve all seen in the news, on social media or first-hand, businesses throughout the pandemic have found ways to start, grow, innovate and support our communities.
By giving these inspiring role models a platform we hope to encourage others who want to start a business, showing them the possibilities are endless.
How it works
We’re asking Members of Parliament to nominate entrepreneurs in their constituency who they feel have made the most of lockdown, by starting or growing their business, innovating to survive the challenges, or supporting their staff and local community.
It may be the distillers who started producing hand sanitiser, a seamstress selling masks, the furloughed worker who turned a gift box to cheer up her colleagues into a business or the teen entrepreneurs designing and making t-shirts.
The winners will be chosen by a panel of politicians and entrepreneurs, including Shadow Employment Minister Seema Malhotra MP, Katherine Fletcher MP and Andy Carter MP, who both started their own businesses before entering Parliament, Karen Taylor, Founder of Parent Cloud and Octopus founder Chris Hulatt.
The lucky winners will then be invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony in April 2021 to celebrate the thriving entrepreneurial community in the UK with their MPs.
How to get involved
The awards are now closed and we will be announcing winners shortly.
We’re calling on the government to launch a UK-wide ‘Springboard scheme’ to support new business creation and long-term job growth.
